Over the next two terms, you are asked to complete ten activities; each could be seen as one week's work. We've given extra time considering all the other demands on your time. All of the activities give you chance to experience a range of Web 2.0 tools.
How does this online learning program work?
This is a self-discovery program of self-directed learning, utilising your lifelong learning skills through exploration and play. You can work together with others and share with each other your discoveries, techniques and "how to's" both in person and through your blogs.
Is this program open to all staff?
This program is open to all staff of St. Michael's Primary School, regardless of position and status (full and part time). If you are not a member of our staff, you are welcome to follow along.
How long do I have to complete the program?
Now that the our original Learning 2.0 has finished, you can join now and take as long as you like; but a disicplined approach is more likely to see you complete.
How do I track my progress for the 10 activities?
Each staff member that chooses to participate in this program will be required to keep a blog to track their progress and will need to send an email each time they've completed an activity to the Learning Technology Coordinator, who will maintain a record of progress on our Intranet.
If I don't work at St. Michael's, can I still participate?
Yes, by all means.
Will there be any training classes offered to show staff how to do this?
There are no formal workshops; this is a self-directed learning program. On each Multimedia Monday, the library will be open for staff to use the computers if they wish and seek the advice of others who are there. You can also find a co-worker or another staff member who can help. Reading other staff member's blogs can help, too.
I've seen the list of the 10 Activites on the website, but how do I know what to do with them?
Each week, material will be added to the Learning 2.0 site with details about the discovery exercises for that week. The reason for this staggered approach is to allow participants the ability to focus each week on a different area without feeling overwhelmed.
Can I work ahead through the list of items on my own?
Yes, of course. You are encouraged to self-direct your discovery process, especially by working ahead on your own!! However, if you do work ahead on some items, be sure to check back on the exercise details for each item once they are posted so you can be sure to recieve full credit for its completion.
What if I need help - who can I call?
Since this program is self-directed and is being completed by many staff members throughout the school simultaneously, you are encouraged to work with colleagues along your discovery journey. To find a list of staff participating see The Participants. Remember, you can also drop into the library on Multimedia Mondays.
I don't feel comfortable with my colleagues reading my blog, can I participate anonymously?
Yes & No. Since you control all the information that you share on your blog, you can choose to use a "screen name" to identify yourself to keep yourself anonymous. However, your progress record will be displayed on our Intranet. Remember, though, that the Intranet is only accessible from within the school.
